Springfield, GA – Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Savannah Town Rd
Springfield, GA (November 28, 2021) – Around 10 p.m. on Friday night, November 26, a hit-and-run pedestrian crash occurred in Springfield.
According to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on Savannah Town Road. A male pedestrian was walking in the area when he started to cross the street. He was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle that was traveling through the area. The driver did not remain at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been fully identified, was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.
Due to the severity of the collision, a large portion of the roadway was blocked for a period of time. Police did not say if they found the driver responsible for the accident.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
