Atlanta, GA (September 19, 2021) – On Sunday afternoon, September 19, a multi-vehicle collision took place on a highway in Atlanta, resulting in injuries and involving at least three cars.
Officers with the Atlanta Police Department confirmed that the accident occurred on a southbound exit ramp from Interstate 285 to Interstate 20 around 12:30 p.m. The wreck reportedly happened near milepost 46, blocking all exit lanes in the area.
DeKalb paramedics and fire crews provided treatment at the scene. One or more victims suffered injuries as a result of the accident, though the extent of their injuries is unknown.
It appears that paramedics transported at least one victim to an area medical center via ambulance, however.
Officers collected evidence and completed the on-scene portion of their investigation by midnight, though they are still working to piece together the events leading up to the incident.
Authorities did not provide further details but the investigation continues at this time. DeKalb County officials have also not released any identifying information about the drivers involved.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
