Athens, GA – Driver Injured in Car Crash at Oconee St & Hickory St
Athens, GA (December 7, 2021) – At 2:44 p.m. on the afternoon of Monday, December 6, a driver was injured in a car crash at an Athens intersection.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Oconee Street and Hickory Street. Two vehicles were allegedly traveling in the area when they entered the intersection at the same time, forcefully colliding with each other. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One of the drivers, who has not yet been identified, experienced chest pain as a result of the accident. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
