Athens, GA – Bicyclist Hurt in Collision at Lumpkin St & Carlton St
Athens, GA (October 14, 2021) – At 9 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, October 13, a bicycle accident with injuries occurred in Athens.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Lumpkin Street and Carlton Street. A bicyclist was traveling in the area when they entered the intersection at the same time as a passenger vehicle. This caused the vehicles to collide with one another. The bicycle was left with extensive damages.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist, who has not yet been identified, was injured in the accident. They were treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time. This led to delays in the area.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
